So as a HUGE fan of Danielle’s previous book, The Merciless, which I devoured in one sitting, you can bet my excitement for this book was through the roof. Did it live up to the hype I created for it? Well…the cover is gorgeous!

The hype around this book is insane! Everyone seems to love it! I had seen this book around a lot and finally decided to pick it up! It’s definitely not what I was expecting. I was a little disappointed because I expected like a horror novel but it’s more Tim Burton-esque than it is horror, but as a fan of Burton’s, I can say that it’s a good thing!

I know a lot of people have problems with James Frey and Full Fathom Five and will not read anything they produce. I’ve seen a lot of people on Goodreads dismiss the book simply because James Frey wrote it as well as having Full Fathom Five, which is James Frey’s publishing company. This book also received criticism for being a knock-off of Suzanne Collins’ wildly popular book trilogy, The Hunger Games. I, personally, believe that we need to separate the art from the artist. it’s not fair to dismiss something such as this book just because it’s involvement with James Frey. You might really love this book if you gave it a chance but many won’t just because of James Frey. When I heard about this book I was extremely excited to read it and well, let’s get into it.

This was my first adult book, YAY! I was really excited to get into this one because I’ve heard nothing but praise for this book and who doesn’t like superheroes, right? I had always wanted to read this book but there was really nothing that made me want to go out and get it. Even when I did buy it it sat on my shelf for a while and I showed my friend and she raved about it and I trust her a lot because we share similar tastes. So I’ve never read Matched, Ally Condie’s previous series before, and I was excited to read this due to all the hype surrounding it. I knew nothing about it but I kept hearing about sirens and mermaids and an underwater civilization and I thought “Cool!” but unfortunately this wasn’t cool nor was it about mermaids. *Sad face*

I have never really heard of this book at all but I was watching some videos on YouTube, book hauls, bookshelf tours and videos of that sort and I see this book pop up a few times so I decided to look it up. It had fantastic reviews everywhere I looked so I figured I would buy it and give it a read and I can say without hesitation that this is my favorite book that I’ve ever read.

I was really excited to read this book after reading Marie Lu’s previous series, The Legend Trilogy and I bought TYE on the release date. It took me a few months to pick up due to school, other books I was reading and whatnot, but when I did, wow! It did NOT disappoint!
